Abstract

The objectives are to identify the main proposals made by the candidates to Rio de Janeiro's municipal elections of 2012 and 2016 on themes related to the creative economy in their plans and programs of government and to examine the similarities and differences in the treatment of these issues in the documents between the two elections. The central argument points out that there was a greater deepening and detailing of the proposals in the 2016 elections compared to 2012, given the greater perception by the political parties of creative economy as a vector of socioeconomic development for the generation of income and employment, cultural access and urban regeneration.
