This study investigates innovation patterns in micro and small enterprises (MSEs) in the industrial and service sectors of São Paulo state, based on an analysis of SEBRAE’s Innovation Radar. We use an unprecedented dataset from SEBRAE/SP, comprising 18,835 MSEs participating in the Local Innovation Agents (ALI) Program. By reviewing the dimensions of the Innovation Radar, we aim to align its structure with contemporary discussions in literature. We apply correspondence analysis to identify associations between innovation factors and enterprises in different segments. The main factors identified were network, organizational structure, and organizational learning, with the first being the most relevant for assessing the innovation potential of MSEs. The most prominent segments in terms of innovation were Information Technology (IT) and Apparel Manufacturing. In addition to contributing to the understanding of innovation in São Paulo’s MSEs, our findings provide insights for public policy and business strategies to strengthen innovation.
