Abaré teaching-hospital ship, which means “the friend who provides care”, in Tupi, is one of the basic river health units (UBSF) assisting riverside populations in Tapajós River region, Western Pará State. The aim of the present study is to assess the Basic River Health Unit management, on Abaré Teaching-Hospital Ship. The study was carried out in Western Pará State, between 2019 and 2021, during expeditions Outubro I and II, based on data collected in the field. Data were collected between 2022 and 2023 from official reports by Ufopa’s Integrated Human Development Network. The study followed a descriptive approach, substantiated by experience and reflective reports, as well as a qualitative approach, based on action research. The subjective and interdisciplinary lens of both professors-researchers and students from the economics, business and pharmacy fields, was used for the situational diagnosis of Abaré pharmacy, based on dialogues set with health workers, volunteers and the ship’s crew. Data analysis was carried out from the perspective of public management and health care service assessment. Results have provided alternatives to improve health services performance at UBSF and to strengthen teaching, research and extension actions. Expeditions October I and II helped improving the herein assessed management process in the following years by enhancing health services available in the River Family Health Strategy.
